Alice Case’s paintings explore the human experience, the complex interwoven moments of our daily lives, and how our experiences are shaped by our memories, personal desires, images, information, and our role as individuals in a larger social structure. Her work often deals with dichotomies and forces that seem to be at odds with each other. Her most recent body of work, all involving global airline flight patterns, explores the complexities surrounding what it feels like to be an individual in a globalized society recovering from financial collapse, and how this is shaping the way we experience our world, ranging from our cities, to our internal emotions, to how we experience nature.
A Louisiana native, Alice received her BFA from Louisiana State University in painting and sculpture. She moved to Seattle in 2007, were she received her MFA from the University of Washington in 2009. Since then she has been doing solo and group shows throughout Seattle and Bellevue. She has shown her work at EastShore Gallery, Phinney Center Gallery, Gage Academy of Fine Art, and will be showing at the SAM Gallery in April.
